About the images

(Boy do I need better pictures for this page.)

All of the pictures on the astronomy pages were taken with the Fuji S1 digital camera. Some of the astrophotos were taken prime focus, with the rest (such as the daytime outdoor shots) using various Nikon AF-D lenses.

Most of the pictures were taken at the camera's full resolution (3040x2016), though some were taken at the lower resolution of 2304x1536. The pictures were then cropped and rescaled (as appropriate) for the web page using the GIMP on a Linux box, creating a an array of "full-size" images (usually 720x480 pixels) and smaller thumbnails (usually 120x80 pixels) for the web pages themselves.

Here is a review (huge!) and a data sheet for the S1.
